This 17th Century coaching house, is believed to be one of the oldest, if not the oldest public house in St Helens.

One of the rooms is believed to have been a Cock Fighting Pit, and has very low ceilings with original beams. Large games room, bowling green and Beer Garden complete this picture box pub.

i went here a few weeks ago and they had no real ale on at all!, its a nice pub and some nice walks close by crank caverns being one of them.

Recently taken over (again), the new landlords currently have two handpulls on (Black Sheep and Lancaster Blond), but hope to increase the number in the not too distant future
