This is my choice of pub for a quiet drink, currently serving Cumberland, Black Sheep, Cains and one revolving guest ale. 1 or 2 of the bar staff seem to have a good knowledge of real ale and service at the bar usually prompt and friendly.

The standard of the Real Ale at the Griffin over the past few months has been very poor and not of an acceptable standard.Myslf and the 3 guys i drink with have taken back pint after pint especially fom the Black Sheep pump. The problem appears to be that the lines are not being cleaned properly if at all.We have discussed the problem with the manager but as a non beer drinker he is not terribly interested.Other beers have been similarly below standard. How this Pub remains in the Good Beer Guide is a mystery!!!

Great pub with a friendly atmosphere serving a few rotating cask ales. Bit pricey though!
