1st Ever  Micro Brewery Tour of Ireland
Brewery Tours
Exclusive to CAMRA members

Dear Anthony Biggs,

I would like to introduce myself to all CAMRA members. My name is Mia Tobin & I'm excited to tell you about my plans to run the 1st ever tour of Ireland's microbreweries. I  am putting together a fantastic 5 day itinerary showcasing the very best microbrewed beers, pubs, food, traditional music & scenery that Ireland has to offer.

At one time, Ireland had a vibrant regional brewing industry, with each town or county proud to drink the local produce. Sadly this died out in the 20th century as the larger brewers like Guinness and Smithwicks grew at the expense of the independents.

I'm delighted to tell you that Ireland is making great strides in regaining its former brewing glory with over 20 micro breweries now in existence producing a wide range of quality ales and stouts.

The tour will start and finish in Dublin, taking in the stunning West of Ireland and visiting 7 breweries en route. There will also be the opportunity to visit heritage sites, ancient ruins, neolithic monuments, small villages, beautiful coastlines, dramatic cliffs and a few other little surprises along the way. As you probably know, CAMRA started in Krugers pub in Dunquin, Co Kerry over 40 years ago and we will re-visit this very spot! These are some of the daytime activities, at night we will experience true Irish 'ceol agus craic' - music & fun in traditional Irish pubs serving quality beer & good food.

We will stay in carefully chosen guesthouses and small hotel accomodation in the centres of the towns that we visit. As the tour groups will be small  - up to 16 people, tours can be customised to suit a particular groups preferences or interests.

I am an experienced tour guide both in Ireland & abroad and I will fill you in on local knowledge & history with a few songs, stories & jokes thrown in along the way.

I am in the process of finalising the itinerary and will update you in the next month with full details and pricing.

I would very grateful if you could circulate this email to the members of your branch.  If you are part of a branch that may have a group of up to 16 people interested, please feel free to contact me for further information or to express your interest and indicate the month you may think about travelling.

Regards,

Mia Tobin.

Online member nominations for Champion Beer of Britain

All CAMRA members can now take part in the process to choose the Champion Beer of Britain.

A new national website has been launched - www.cbobvoting.org.uk - which for the first time will allow all members to fully participate in the nomination process.

Previously beers judged in the national finals go through a very rigorous process to be selected, including a series of regional competitions in nine areas, to find the best regional beer in each of eleven beer style categories.

In each region, the beers selected for the local competitions are determined by nominations including those submitted by branches - with branches polling their own members.
Champion Beer of Britain Voting

The new website will now allow all members to nominate five beers in each of the eleven categories to be put forward for the CBOB competition.

Any CAMRA member can login into the new web site using the same login details they use to access the members' area of the CAMRA national website. Having logged in you'll be able to access information about the nomination schedule - with the nomination period varying region to region - but the nominations period in many regions starts in December.
